The Best Television Shows Are Always Canceled
It’s true, and it makes perfect sense if you understand the economics of the television business.  More people wanted to watch Family Matters than Arrested Development, although none of them liked it nearly as much as some people liked Arrested Development.  That doesn’t make a difference in TV economics, though.  The network could make infinitely more cash from Family Matters (or a rerun of American Idol for that matter) than from Arrested Development.  That’s why the Internet is so important.  Web television doesn’t have this problem because you can air Family Matters and American Idol and Beet.TV all at the same time.

You guys, this is a rather limited and truncated list, isn’t it? Cheers (270 eps), MASH (251 eps), Seinfeld (174 eps), Family Ties (176 eps) (had to), etc, etc. The best TV shows aren’t always cancelled.
